Spanish Wells

The Spanish Wells Club is situated on the edge of the Calibogue Sound on beautiful Hilton Head Island. This club gets their namesake from the artesian wells the Spanish explorers used to fill up their kegs before traveling on. Later used as an artillery redoubt by Confederate forces, it was renamed Battery Holbrook in honor of First Lieutenant Henry Holbrook.

Today, history is still honored with the Holbrook Grill restaurant serving fresh homemade food and water views. The clubhouse is also used for private events, weddings, and is home to the pro shop. A lovely outdoor pool provides comfort in the hot sun. No Lowcountry community is complete without a 9 hole 36 par golf course! This course by George Cobb and Clyde Johnston winds beautifully through the landscape and is a very walkable course. There are two sets of tees for an 18 hole experience and no tee times required! There is a practice area as well and PGA professional lessons and clinics are available.

Tennis is also very popular in this community with leagues and professional lessons for members. There are 5 Har-tru courts, a Resident PTR and ITF Certified tennis professional who manages the club, night play, clinics, and socials. A deep water day dock and covered pier-head on Calibogue Sound offer magnificent views and provide the opportunity for a variety of water activities. They also have an area for kayak storage.
