Spring Island

Founded over 300 years ago, Spring Island was first home to Lowcountry natives, including: industrious plantation owners, agriculturalists, and quail hunting enthusiasts, to name a few. Now you can walk along the History Trail and visit the Old House Cemetery and house ruins, learn about the human and natural history of this area, and the Tabby Ruins Gazebo. In 2010, residents came together to make a “praise house memorial” out of historical timbers to honor the Gullah culture that existed before.

If you are looking for a peaceful and serene lifestyle, Spring Island’s live oak forests are sure to please. With gorgeous pond or waterfront homes and over 300 homesites, finding your dream home won’t be hard here. The way these neighborhoods and large family plots are set up allows for a “nature curtain”, designed by founder Collins Mitchell, that hides all houses from view on the Spring Island roads. These waters are also perfect for fishing and other water sports. Looking for something else? Take a visit to the sports complex, equestrian facility, the Old Tabby Links golf course, or walk through the garden!
